Meet the Team – Veterinary Nurses

Kate Jones RVN MBVNA (Head Nurse)Kate started nursing in Eastbourne in 2003 then completed her training here at Town and Country Veterinary Centre. She spent a couple of years working at a referral centre where she gained surgical nursing and orthopaedic experience before being invited back to the Town and Country Veterinary Centre as Head Nurse in October 2009. She particularly enjoys surgical and theatre nursing and continuing to develop her skills with the equine and large animal work. Kate owns one ginger cat. She enjoys natural world photography and the occasional glass of good wine! |

Maria Rutter RVN MBVNAMaria has lived locally all her life and started with us helping out as a Saturday job before going to university. Maria joined the practice full time in 2003, completing her veterinary nurse training in 2007. She enjoys all aspects of the job, particularly helping out with the farm work and running senior pet health and diabetes clinics. Maria is also in charge of coordinating the equine and pet insurance claims for our clients. |

Peta Harris BSc(Hons) NCert (Anbeh) RVNPeta qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2007, having come to the profession after a 3 year degree course in zoology at Swansea University. Her particular work interests include animal behaviour (for which she holds a certificate) and equine nursing. When not at work, Peta enjoys riding her horse, dog walking and caring for the various members of her menagerie (one horse, one cocker spaniel, a rescue cat, four guinea pigs, two chinchillas). |

Lynsay Kelly BSc(Hons) RVNLynsay is the newest member of our nursing team and has been nursing for nearly seven years. Lynsay has spent the last three years working in an orthopaedic referral practice as a surgical nurse. Last year she took time out to travel and spent some time working for the Small Animal Specialist Hospital in Sydney. She has done post qualifying training in fluid therapy and practical emergency techniques. |

Vicke SwinglerVicke is the newest member of the nursing team, joining the centre in June 2011 as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant. Vicke enjoys patient care and any large animal job outside! She has always enjoyed working in the animal environment and has previously worked for The Blue Cross. When not at work, Vicke enjoys spending time with her own animals, two guinea pigs, two rabbits and two cats. All of whom she has rescued. |
