Farm and Livestock
Like most long established rural veterinary practices, the practice was built up to provide an essential service for the many farms in this area. We are committed to continuing that tradition and with two partners with combined careers of over fifty years treating farm animals, we have a wealth of experience to call upon.
Our clients vary from dairy herds with over 300 cows, to the owners of one or two pet sheep, goats or pigs. We look after many herds of both pedigree and commercial beef cattle, several dairy farms and numerous flocks of all types of sheep. On the non-commercial side many of our clients have small holdings with sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and increasing numbers of small camelids — Alpacas and Llamas. By keeping up to date with the latest ideas and equipment, we strive to offer the best treatments and advice whatever the size and nature of your holding.
The services we offer include health planning, routine fertility visits and pregnancy diagnosis including ultrasound scanning, regular farmers meetings including seminars and workshops to provide knowledge transfer in association with NADIS, and our own out-of-hours service with an experienced vet always on first or second call. Our facilites include our own in-house laboratory so that we can provide rapid results for blood tests, a fully portable digital Xray machine and ultrasound scanners, from August 2010 including a new fully portable “go anywhere” battery scanner.
